In the hustle and bustle of Singapore's fast-paced lifestyle, stress can take its toll on our teeth, leading to a common yet often overlooked issue: teeth grinding. Fortunately, dental mouth guard for teeth grinding offer a solution to this problem.

The mouth guards act to protect teeth from excessive wear, especially during sleeping therefore helping to avoid related issues like jaw pain and headaches. At Dental Designs Clinic, we create the mouth guards in our in-house dental laboratory, conveniently located in the heart of the city!

Are mouth guards necessary?

What is the purpose of a mouth guard? Well, mouth guards are especially beneficial for individuals who grind their teeth, a condition known as bruxism. Left untreated, bruxism can lead to serious dental issues. The constant grinding can wear down tooth enamel, increasing sensitivity and the risk of cavities and fractures. Additionally, untreated bruxism can cause jaw pain, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders and chronic headaches. Over time, these effects can significantly impact oral health and quality of life.

Dental mouth guards act as a physical barrier, preventing the upper and lower teeth from coming into contact. They cushion the teeth, protecting them from the damaging effects of grinding and clenching.

What are the types of Mouth Guards in Singapore?

All our mouth guards are custom-made in Singapore at our in-house dental laboratory, ensuring accuracy and fast turnaround times. We understand that each teeth grinding condition is unique, so we provide various types of mouth guards to meet individual needs. Each of them is named Dura, which stands for durability, highlighting our commitment to long-lasting protection for your teeth.

1) DuraAir Mouth Guard

The DuraAir mouth guard features a dual-layer design: a soft inner layer for comfort and a hard outer layer for durability. This construction provides flexibility and thinness, ensuring good fit and comfort. This unique combination makes the DuraAir mouth guard ideal for individuals dealing with mild to moderate teeth grinding as well as those who are new to using mouth guards, and want to start with a comfortable option.

However, due to its thin and flexible design, the DuraAir mouth guard is more prone to wear and tear compared to our other rigid mouth guards. This means that over time, this mouth guard may develop tears or holes, especially with prolonged use. Additionally, the material used in DuraAir mouth guard is more susceptible to staining from factors like food, drinks, or improper cleaning.

2) Dura3D Mouth Guard

The Dura3D mouth guard is crafted using 3D printing technology and quality materials sourced from Germany, chosen for their biocompatibility and adherence to strict international medical device regulations. This ensures that our mouth guards meet safety and quality standards. It is durable and more resistant to stains as compared to DuraAir. You can even personalise the mouth guard with your name!

To create your custom-fitted Dura3D mouth guard, we begin by digitally scanning your teeth with our 3D scanner, which has an accuracy of 25 microns. This scan guides our 3D printer in building the mouth guard layer by layer, resulting in a perfect fit for your jaw.

The Dura3D mouth guard not only protects against teeth grinding but also helps manage jaw joint issues. It achieves this by aligning the teeth and supporting the jaw in a proper position, which reduces strain on the jaw joint and muscles. Overall, the Dura3D mouth guard provides comprehensive support for individuals with mild to heavy bruxism, addressing both teeth grinding and associated jaw joint issues.

3) DuraMax Mouth Guard

The DuraMax mouth guard is specially designed to endure the pressures of heavy teeth grinding. Its construction involves milling from a solid block, ensuring the mouth guard remains strong and is less likely to break or develop holes over time. This maximum durability is a standout feature, making the DuraMax mouth guard a dependable choice for long-lasting use.

Through the use of CAD/CAM technology, the DuraMax mouth guard is digitally designed and then manufactured with precision by computer-controlled milling machines. This process allows for a customised fit that aligns perfectly with your teeth and bite, ensuring consistent quality and accuracy in each mouth guard produced.

Much like the Dura3D mouth guard, the DuraMax mouth guard offers dual benefits. In addition to protecting against teeth grinding, it also aids in managing jaw joint issues, providing protection as well as therapy for individuals dealing with these conditions. Moreover, it can be personalised with your name as well.

4) Soft Mouth Guard

The soft mouth guard is made from a softer, more flexible material, making it a good option for individuals with mild teeth grinding. While the soft material offers comfort, it is slightly thicker than our Dura mouth guards, which can initially feel bulky in the mouth for some users.

The soft mouth guard acts as a barrier between the upper and lower teeth, preventing them from grinding against each other. However, it is important to note that this type of mouthguard has the lowest resistance to staining among our options. This means it may show signs of discolouration over time, which does not affect its functionality but is something to consider for those concerned about appearance.
