Smile Improvement
What is Smile Improvement?
Creating a beautiful smile should be a positive process as it is your opportunity to showcase your personality through your teeth. At Dental Designs, we use a comprehensive approach with an integrated digital workflow, enabling us to meticulously plan each step of your smile improvement journey together with you.
This technology allows us to visualise the final results and make any necessary adjustments before even beginning treatment, while also considering not just the appearance of your teeth, gums, and lips, but also your facial proportions, to create a harmonious and pleasing smile that is unique to you.
Smile Improvement Treatments For Natural Teeth
Our skilled cosmetic dentists are well-equipped to assist you in achieving your dream smile, whether it involves teeth whitening, dental implants, veneers, or orthodontic treatment.
This is the simplest form of smile improvement. Teeth naturally undergo physiological wear and tear with age, sometimes requiring subtle touch-ups to rejuvenate them.
Tooth reshaping is designed to correct minor imperfections by removing small amounts of tooth enamel. It is a simple and fast way to smooth out small chips, rough spots or uneven edges to create a symmetrical smile.
When there is more loss of tooth enamel, tooth reshaping will be paired with tooth filling.
This involves using a tooth-coloured material that matches your natural tooth shade to further fill and shape the tooth, ensuring an aesthetically pleasing smile.
Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures. Teeth can become stained over time due to various factors such as ageing, excessive consumption of dark-coloured foods and beverages like coffee and red wine or simply due to poor oral hygiene practices.
Professional whitening treatments, including the use of specialised gel and in-office procedures, are often part of a comprehensive smile improvement as these methods provide significant and visible results.
Veneers are thin, custom-made shells carefully crafted to bond to and cover the front of unsightly teeth.
They are a good option for correcting cosmetic imperfections, as they can be made to match the colour and shape of your natural teeth, as well as to close existing gaps.
They play a vital role in enhancing your smile by restoring your teeth's health, function and appearance, therefore giving you a beautiful and confident smile.
Dental crowns are especially beneficial for damaged teeth, as they can cover teeth with large fillings and protect weakened teeth from further damage, while dental bridges fill in gaps left by missing teeth and help restore proper chewing and speaking abilities.

How is Smile Improvement Different at Dental Designs?
Intra-Oral Scanners for Digital Impressions: We use an intra-oral scanner to capture digital dental scans of your teeth. This modern technology ensures a comfortable experience and eliminates the need for patients to endure the discomfort of gagging on traditional impression materials.
3D face scanner: Our facial scanner comprises six high-resolution cameras and an integrated ring light that takes pictures and seamlessly converts them into a 3D face scan. This process provides our in-house dental laboratory with a 3D model of the patient's face, which can be aligned with their digital impressions, offering a significant advantage in aesthetic cases and cosmetic treatment outcomes.
3D Printing Technology: Our 3D printers allow us to utilise the digital impression of your teeth to fabricate multiple dental prostheses, a cast or replica of your teeth and surgical guides.
CEREC CAD/CAM system: CAD-CAM, an acronym for "computer-aided manufacturing and computer-aided design," refers to a technology in which dental prostheses are designed and manufactured using modern computer technology. As a result, the prostheses prepared using CAD-CAM technology are not only strong and durable but also possess good aesthetics.
Use of surgical guides for a Fully Guided Keyhole Implant Surgery: We create a personalised surgical guide for each patient needing dental implants. This 3D-printed resin guide assists our dentists during surgery, ensuring precise implant placement in terms of position, depth, and angle. The "keyhole" technique involves a small gum opening for implant insertion, reducing tissue trauma and improving the procedure's success and safety.
Smile Trial: This is specially indicated for patients wishing to undergo dental veneer treatment as part of their smile improvement procedure. The smile trial allows the patients to see the result without any actual drilling into their teeth. This process involves temporarily placing filling materials on the teeth to allow patients to visualise the final veneer shape and colour. It is like a test run, if the patient decides not to proceed with treatment, everything is reversible.
In-house lab: Unlike traditional dental laboratories, which are made off-site, we make all our crowns and bridges in-house with a fully digital workflow to ensure better quality control. All our crowns and bridges made in-house are 100% metal-free and do not contain mercury or other toxins.
Same day crowns: Traditionally, the process of getting dental crowns requires multiple appointments over several days or weeks. However, with CEREC technology, you can now achieve a beautiful smile with crowns all in the same day, minimising downtime and eliminating the need for temporary crowns which are usually rough and fall off easily.

Process Of Getting a Smile Improvement
1. Consultation
Comprehensive examination and treatment planning will be done to check:
- Your goals and expectations from a smile improvement
- Which teeth are affected and the extent of damage
- The health of the gums that support the tooth
- Smile Analysis
- Budget and timeline
Based on this information, our dentists will take photos, digital X-rays and 3D face scans of your teeth and explain the treatments options available. This is an opportunity to ask your dentist any questions you may have about the treatment.
2. Digital Smile Design
Using the photographs, x-rays and scans obtained during your initial visit, our dentist will create a digital 3D view of your mouth using Digital Smile Design software. This technology allows the dentist to develop various treatment plans, taking into account the proportions of your teeth, gums and lips as well as facial features, in order to design the desired smile for you.
When the final outcome is planned in advance, it means that you, our dentist and our dental lab are in agreement about how your smile will look aesthetically. This shared vision helps prevent any unexpected surprises when the digital cosmetic smile design for smile makeovers treatment is completed, which could be difficult or even impossible to correct at that point.
3. Smile Trial
For dental veneers, once the design is finalised, a copy of the desired smile is then printed using 3D printing technology for you to “try on”. This stage allows you to see the end-result on yourself without any actual treatment being performed.
Any adjustments needed are done on the trial material with discussion between you and your dentist. If you decide not to proceed with treatment, rest assured that everything is reversible.
4. Smile Improvement Procedure
A smile improvement journey is unique to each patient and can involve a variety of components and treatment options spanning anywhere from 1 session to a couple of sessions to a few years. The latter is particularly so if orthodontic treatments such as braces or Invisalign are indicated.
Depending on the chosen treatment plan, you may require one or a combination of the following procedures:
- Tooth reshaping
- Tooth filling
- Gum contouring
- Teeth straightening with braces or Invisalign
- Teeth whitening
- Dental veneers
- Dental crowns and bridges
- Dental implants
5. Post-Op Care and Review Checks
After your smile improvement procedure, it's crucial to follow post-operative care instructions provided by your dentist. This often includes guidelines on oral hygiene and dietary restrictions.
Your dentist will typically schedule several review checks to monitor your progress. During these appointments, they will assess the healing process, the stability of any restorations or implants, and address any concerns you may have. It's important to attend these follow-up visits as they allow your dentist to make any necessary adjustments and ensure the long-term success of your smile improvement treatment.
Cost of Smile Improvement in Singapore
The cost of smile improvement can vary significantly depending on the treatment plan developed by the dentist for each individual patient. Factors influencing the cost include the extent of dental work needed, the specific treatments involved, and the materials selected for the restorations and artificial teeth, among many others. For example, cases requiring multiple dental implants with zirconia restorations will surely cost more than those requiring tooth reshaping and filling.
Therefore, the smile makeover cost in Singapore can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars. However, it is important to note that investing in a smile improvement can lead to long-term benefits as it can have a positive impact on your confidence, self-esteem and overall well-being.
During your consultation, your dentist will assess your specific needs and provide you with a detailed breakdown of the costs involved. This will enable you to make an informed decision about your treatment and budget accordingly.

From teeth whitening and dental veneers to dental implants and orthodontic treatments, a smile makeover addresses various dental concerns to give you a confident and appealing smile.
Yes, dental implants are considered a permanent solution for replacing missing teeth. Surgically inserted into the jawbone, dental implants act as artificial tooth roots, providing a strong foundation for artificial teeth that look and function like natural teeth. With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last a lifetime. However, individual factors such as oral health, habits like smoking and the location of the implant can affect their longevity.
Cosmetic dentistry procedures such as dental veneers, dental crowns and teeth whitening can effectively address common dental imperfections such as crooked, discoloured, or misaligned teeth. By improving the shape, colour and alignment of your teeth, these treatments can help you achieve a more attractive and confident smile.
Invisalign clear aligners offer several advantages over traditional metal braces. They are virtually invisible, making them a discreet orthodontic treatment option. Additionally, Invisalign aligners are removable, allowing for easy maintenance of oral hygiene and the ability to eat and drink without restrictions during treatment.
Yes, cosmetic dentistry procedures can significantly improve your self-confidence by enhancing the appearance of your smile. A smile that you feel proud of can boost your self-esteem and positively impact your personal and professional interactions. This clinic is one of the best I have ever seen. I saw dr Justin for my implant which I did many years ago, the tooth was loose, and other drs told me to remove it as they could not find out what brand it was but dr Justin was able to take 3d xrays and locate the brand and specially ordered the part in. he saved me from having to do a surgery to remove and put a new implant which would have cost me a bomb. the tooth looks even better than the original thanks to the experieced dental technician Katsuya from Japan.
Very happy and will keep coming back for my regular dental.

my workplace is close by and I had a problem with my tooth for a few days, so I made an appointment to come down. The receptionist who booked my appointment was very helpful and friendly to explain the way to the clinic from my office. I saw Dr Nicholas who was able to do a root canal treatment on the same visit so that I didn't need to come back. I felt safe and comfortable to do my dental treatment here as the dental picks are all wrapped up and sterilized and only opened before each treatment when im inside.
